3/4 pound butter, melted
1/2 cup molasses
2 cups sugar
4 to 5 cups flour (4 is recommended)
4 teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1 teaspoon ground ginger
1 teaspoon ground cloves
- With a mixer, beat together melted margarine, molasses, sugar and eggs.
- Add flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, and clovers all at once. Mix well, cover with wax paper, and refrigerate for about 2 hours.
- Shape into small balls (1 inch in diameter) and roll in sugar. Press a bit of cherry on top.
Bake at 350 F. for 8-10 minutes.
Makes about 5 dozen cookies.
A nice easy cookie recipe. However, beware the burnt cookies. These can toast pretty quickly if you don't watch them.
