SEO Tactics - External

The external qualities that most search engines care about are links to your site. The basic idea is that a link to a page is a vote for that page. Pages with more votes than others then place better in results and can, in turn, cast a stronger vote to other pages. This is the famous idea that quickly made Google into the most successful search engine.

Search engine optimizers soon began to game the system. Everybody, of course, wants to look like their site is an authoritative site. This kind of site is, in other words, a site with quality content everybody links to. Today, link tactics must take into account barriers placed to prevent search engine optimization from unfairly giving optimized sites the advantage over natural high ranking quality sites.

If someone claims to you that they can quickly move your site from even position 30 to 1 for your targeted keywords then ignore them. Many of those tricks will get your site banned and removed entirely from a search engine once they catch on. More than one web site owner has been taken advantage of and had there web site banned from search engines.

So, put on your white hat and delve into how to make your website climb out of the ranking purgatory.
