Shimonoseki Station burned down early on January 7, 2006. The station was a classic large wooden structure that was loved by many in the community.

Shimonoseki City is located beside the historic Kanmon Straits which separates Kyushu and the western end of mainland Honshu. Daily sailings travel from Shimonoseki Port to Pusan in Korea. (Read More: Shimonoseki City)
